It never ceases to amaze me how the dynamics of light can pierce the very fabric of cloud cover.
I could see the cloud layers of Jupiter even though the planet was obscured from view!
Thats right, I could *not* see Jupiter with the naked eye, yet, it was revealed in great splender with my 5mm eyepiece.
Even the moons could be seen easily.
So if its cloudy out, don’t despair. You still might be able to view depending on how thick your curtain is.
Further, I have actually had better views on nights with a light uniform cloud layer.
This of course only applies to the brightest objects. Mars was a good example.
The cloud layer acted as a filter helping to define the polar caps.
